Our History
Established in 1987, Denistone East Before and After School Care Association (DEBASCA) began in a few of the school classrooms with approximately 20 children in the mornings and 30 in the afternoons.
In 1989, we became incorporated in our own right and in 1991, local member Andrew Tink opened the before and after school building on the Infants side of the school.

In October 1999, DEBASCA took over running the vacation care program from Ryde Council, and in 2000, an extension of the building was completed allowing numbers to grow to more than 110 in the mornings, and 180 in the afternoons.

We have continued to grow, both in places and within our facilities.
In 2013, DEBASCA embarked on a building project, building a Centre 2 (Infants OOSH) which is joined to the existing building with a lovely deck in the middle, bringing our license up to take 195 children.

We have undergone several successful rounds of accreditation. In 2015 we achieved an overall rating of EXCEEDING, EXCEEDING again in January 2020 and have continued with our rating after our latest review in October 2023, with EXCEEDING once again rated in all seven quality areas.

Over the years, DEBASCA has provided a much needed service to the children and families of the local community and we continue to thrive in the busy and ever growing community of Ryde.
